Whew! I have been away for far--FAR too long!

I moved to a new city a year ago, and live in old military housing now turned in to rental property. It is great! Three bedrooms with full basement and carport (sadly no garage). It is a corner lot, so the yard is good-sized. The neighborhood kids are brats, though, with no respect or discipline. Too bad the candy asses of the world said we can't whip a kid's butt anymore. "Talk to them, they'll understand." Obviously these people don't have kids (at least, at home anymore).

Hapkido has become a new passion for me. Started taking classes a few months ago with Josh Cather at Shin Koo Hapkido ([link]) in Lincoln, NE. His expertise and patient teaching ability is more than encouraging to anyone wishing to learn. With creative ways of relating "why" and "how," Josh Cather has been my best martial arts instructor, ever. What is even better is that Mr. Cather has also added me as an editor to his school's blog ([link]).

My wife has begun her RN education at a local community college, and I am working full-time as a Road Construction Laborer. It is fun and great work! I get to operate heavy equipment, power tools, drive dump trucks, and smoke / drink / eat on the job. Also, travel time can sometimes chew up the clock, so that is nice, too.

We have a new addition to the family: a 1982 GMC half-ton 4x4. My Toyota Mustang is a little jealous, but I bought her first, so she and I have more history. The 4x4 has a 350ci gas engine with carburetor, fully-functional FWD, no dome light, and a 3-speed manual transmission with over drive. The bed was not bolted down, which I discovered after driving it one hour (roughly 65 miles) to my folks' house. My dad has every auto tool you can think of. After all, he was a mechanic in the US Army for 23 years. Well, we got her all fixed up and running like a dream. She sports all-terrain tires that are a little taller and wider than your average 235LT75R15. $500 is all I paid! She was a steal!

Unfortunately, I have to go. I am on call for work because we may get snow sometime after midnight.

Have a good weekend!

I like writing and do so in my free time. I try being a photographer, but any real talent usually comes from in front of the lens, not from behind it. I also practice Hapkido. My life consists of: family, work, Hapkido, and writing. I also like the outdoors, heavy equipment, truck driving, travel / road trips, cooking, and having a good time. I like to joke and make people laugh / smile.
